ROCK HILL, SC— Winthrop senior Daniel Revivo received his second All-American honor in two days as he was named to the third team by College Soccer News.
The 6-2 forward out of Richmond Hill, Ontario becomes the first player in school history to be named to more than one All-American team in the same season. He was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-America Second Team on Thursday.
This past season he was one of the nation’s top scorers and adds this honor to a long list of awards that includes First Team All-Big South Conference honors, the 2008 Big South Conference Player of the Year, the 2008 Big South Conference All-Tournament Team, NSCAA/adidas All-South Atlantic Region First Team and Second Team All-American by NSCAA/adidas.
The senior forward was the first player in school history to reach the 50-goal mark over the course of his career at the Division I level. According to the Big South Record book at www.bigsouthsports.com, Revivo is just the fourth player in Big South history to score 50 or more goals as he joins Dante Washington, Radford (82), Joseph Ngwenya, Coastal Carolina (66) and David Doyle, Campbell (64).
Revivo was selected by adidas to attend the 2009 Major League Soccer players combine in Ft. Lauderdale, FL Jan. 9-13.
