ROCK HILL, SC-- Winthrop men's soccer senior Ben Kieffner has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 First Team.

The 6-1 defender was named to the team for the first time in his career and since he was named to the first team he'll have an opportunity to be voted to an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team.

Kieffner was one of 30 candidates for the Lowe's Senior Class Award earlier this year and last year he was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-South Region Academic Second Team. He was also on the 2007 Big South Conference Academic Team.

In his career he has maintained a 3.80 grade point average while seeking a degree in Business Administration.

Kieffner was one of four Big South players to make the first or second team.
