ROCK HILL, SC—Some possible interesting matchups are in store for the Winthrop men’s basketball team when it travels to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands for the 2007 Paradise Jam for the three-game tournament (Nov. 16-19).  A travel package for Winthrop Eagle fans is being offered through Scuba Ventures.

Winthrop, which will be making its second appearance in the eight-team tournament in the past three years, will open play against Illinois-Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.  They will face either the winner or loser of the Georgia Tech vs. Charlotte game.  The other four teams include Wichita State, coached by former Eagle head coach Gregg Marshall, and Notre Dame, the team that Winthrop defeated in the 2007 NCAA Tournament first round.  Winthrop and Wichita State could possibly meet in the championship game on Nov. 19.

 

The Paradise Jam trip package dates are Thursday November 15 to Tuesday November 20. The package includes: round trip air fare on USAir from Charlotte to St. Thomas, hotel accommodations at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef (this is the team hotel), round trip airport – hotel transfers, transportation to the tournament games and tickets to the tournament. This package does not include meals and service gratuities.  

 

The total package is $1849 per person based on double occupancy.  A deposit of $900 is due July 31 and the balance must be paid by October 1.
