ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop junior golfer Kelly Manders was named Golfweek magazine's National Men's Player of the Week for his 14-under par performance last week at the Mizuno Southbridge Invitational in Savannah, GA.

Manders, a Potomac, MD product, fired a 54-hole total of 202 with rounds of 69-68-65 as he captured medalist honors by four shots.  His outstanding performance helped Coach Kevin Pendley's Eagles tie for the team championship with host school Georgia Southern.  Winthrop lost in the scorecard playoff.

The Golfweek award comes on the heels of Mander's selection as the Big South Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.
