Former Eagle Standout Craig Bradshaw Scores 31 Points Against Yao Ming (10-1-07)

Bradshaw Leads His Brisbane Bullets Team To 93-92 Win On Asian Tour

ROCK HILL, SC--Former Winthrop basketball standout Craig Bradshaw is making his presence known on the international level as the 6-10 New Zealand native scored 31 points last week to lead his Brisbane Bullets squad to a 93-92 upset win over Yao Ming's Chinese National Team.

Bradshaw, who earned 2007 First-Team All-Big South Conference honors and was voted MVP of the conference tournament, is now playing professionally for the Bullets, the defending Australian National Basketball League champions.  The Bullets played the Chinese team during a four-game Asian Tour.  He is also a member of the New Zealand National Team, known as The Tall Blacks, and will be competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Bradshaw, who led the Eagles to a 74-64 win over Notre Dame in the first round of the 2007 NCAA tournament in Spokane last March, joined the Bullets in July after a tryout stint with the Atlanta Hawks.

The 31-point outburst against China was a career-high for Bradshaw.

Brisbane head coach Joey Wright believe he has something special in Bradshaw following the performance against Yao Ming.  It was Bradshaw’s massive dunk over Yao which left Wright convinced he’d found the player to replace retired international centre Mark Bradtke. “He busted Yao up in the first game,” said Wright on the team’s return. “He’s still learning, but if he can do that against one of the best centres in the world he’s going to be great in the NBL.”
