OTTAWA, ONTARIO-- Junior Stephanie Reid, sophomore Tessa Thomas and former Eagle standout Janiva Willis have been named to the Senior Women's Canadian National Team Athlete Pool.
Willis and Reid have both played for the Senior Women's National Team in the past, but this is Thomas' first opportunity.
Willis had an outstanding career at Winthrop and was a four-time All-Big South selection. Reid, the 2005 Big South Freshman of the Year, is a two-time All-Big South selection. Thomas was named the 2006 BSC Freshman of the Year and was a member of the first team All-Big South.
The 2007 season will mark the official start of the rally towards to Olympic podium with the Women National Teams competing at the Canada Cup, the World Cup, the Pan Am Games as well as the World University Games.
These athletes will be receiving consideration for one of the National Teams, based on the selection criteria found on the Softball Canada website at www.softball.ca. Players named to the pool include:
