ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop women's basketball coach Bud Childers has his coaching staff in place for the 2006-07 season which promises to be exciting as the Lady Eagles go after their first Big South Conference championship.
While the official start of basketball practice is still three months away, Childers and his staff have kept busy this summer as they have hosted a team camp and evaluated talent during the NCAA's summer recruiting period.
Childers has put together a strong staff for the upcoming season. Joining Brett Childers will be full-time assistants Laquanda Dawkins and Jodi Davis.
Dawkins comes to the Lady Eagle program after serving the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Florida International, where her primary responsibilities included recruiting coordinator, scouting of opponents and coaching perimeter players.
Davis comes to Winthrop after serving as an assistant coach for seven years at Arkansas State University. In her seven seasons at Arkansas State she helped the team to a 111-96 record that included a regular season title in the Sun Belt Conference in 2003-04 and a WNIT quarter-finals appearance in 2004-05.
