Winthrop's Degerman And Hopkins Honored At 2006 Big South Women's Golf Banquet (4-10-06)

Degerman Earns All-Conference Honors While Hopkins Is Chosen On All-Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, NC Winthrop sophomore golfer Jutta Degerman and senior Shannon Hopkins were honored Monday night during the 2006 Big South Conference Women's Golf Awards Banquet in Birmingham, AL.

Degerman was voted to the 2006 All-Conference team by the leagues head coaches and sports information directors while Hopkins was selected on the 2006 All-Academic Team.  Degermen carried a 77 stroke average into this week's PUPS/PDPS Big South Championships while Hopkins has compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.85 as she pursues a degree in sport management.

Birmingham-Southern sophomore Emily Klein and Panthers head coach Michele Drinkard were voted the 2005-06 Big South Women’s Golfer of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.  Coastal Carolina’s Ann Maness was selected as Freshman of the Year, while Birmingham-Southern’s Jill Stupiansky garnered Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades.
