Kyle DiEduardo Promoted To Pitching Coach By Hudak (6-9-05)

DiEduardo Promoted From Assistant Baseball Coach To Pitching Coach

ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop Head Baseball Coach Joe Hudak has announced that he has promoted Kyle DiEduardo from Assistant Baseball Coach to Pitching Coach.

The former Cincinnati Bearcat standout pitcher has completed three years on the Winthrop baseball coaching staff.  He served as a volunteer assistant during his first two seasons before assuming the assistant coaching post for the 2005 season.

“One of my goals when I first started coaching was to be the pitching coach at a top 25 program.  Our baseball program is one of the best in the country, and I am glad that I can continue to be a part of it,” said DiEduardo about his promotion.

“My dual role as the head coach and the pitching coach has always presented the unique challenge in making sure the pitchers received all the attention they needed,” Hudak said in making the announcement. “That’s the main reason I hired Kyle as a full-time assistant prior to this year.  I needed someone who could help me with the pitchers.  The only way I could ever give up some of the responsibilities of working with the pitchers is to find someone I could trust in that role.  D is that someone,” said the Eagles head coach.

“His hard work and dedication to excellence has earned my trust.  I will still be involved with the pitchers, but he will be in charge of their day-to-day work. D has done a tremendous job during his three years here. He has definitely earned this promotion.  His work with the pitchers this year played a major role in the success we had on the field,” said Hudak.

DiEduardo said he came to Winthrop three years ago, not knowing much about Rock Hill or about the school.  “Now I can't tell you enough how much I have enjoyed being apart of this coaching staff, the athetic department, and community,” he said.

“There are three people who I would like to thank that have had major impacts on what I believe about pitching.  My Dad was the first person to teach me the correct way to play this great game while I was growing up in little league.  The next person is my old pitching coach in college at the University of Cincinnati, Coach Jeff Ditch.  He is one of the main people that got me started in the coaching profession and I can't thank him enough for everything he has done for me and for everything that I have learned from him.  And last but not least is Coach Hudak.

“I knew coming here that I would be able to help Coach Hudak with the pitchers.  I knew that I was going to be able to learn a lot from him and apply it to my own philosophy.  For Coach Hudak, who has been the pitching coach here for 14 years, to be able to give me the title of pitching coach is an honor,” said DiEduardo.
