ROCK HILL, SC-- Patrick Mitrovich, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Winthrop men's soccer team in 2005, was named the 2005 Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year.

Mitrovich, from Marietta, GA, is a 2004 NSCAA/addidas All-America selection. He was one of only two keepers chosen from the entire United States to be named to the squad. Mitrovich is a two-time all-state selection at Walton High School and has been a member of Georgia ODP Team for four years. This past November he was selected as the top goalkeeper at the U.S. Youth Soccer ODP Interregional in Austin, TX. He plays club ball for AFC Lightning Soccer Club and is on the U.S. Youth Region III team.
