HIGH POINT, NC-- The Winthrop men's soccer team took home eight All-Big South honors Wednesday evening at the Big South Conference men's soccer banquet.
The honors were highlighted by senior David Garry and sophomore Saidi Isaac being selected to the First Team All-Big South and Patrick Mitrovich being named the Big South Freshman of the Year.
Isaac just missed Player of the Year honors by one vote. Thimo Langer of Birmingham-Southern was named the Big South Player of the Year.
Head coach Rich Posipanko was second in the Coach of the Year voting as he finished eight votes behind Preston Goldfarb of Birmingham-Southern.
Garry became just the fifth player in Winthrop history to be named to the All-Big South team all four years of his career. As a freshman Garry was named to the second team and has been named to the first team the last three seasons.
Senior Michael Chumah headlines the second team for the Eagles as he made his fourth appearance on an All-Big South squad. Chumah was a second team selection as a freshman at Charleston Southern and has been named All-Big South the past three seasons as an Eagle.
Sophomore's Sean Weron and John Gilkerson were both named to the second team as well.
Mitrovich and Daniel Revivo were both named to the Big South All-Freshmen Team.
Mitrovich is only the second Winthrop player to earn Freshman of the Year honors since the award was created in 1993. Robbie Blake tied for the award in 1993 with Sipi Savalainen of Campbell.

Since 2000, the Eagles have had 25 players named to the All-Conference teams, the 2001 Conference Player of the Year, and the 2002 Tournament MVP.
