Isaac, Revivo Among Big South's Leading Scorers

ROCK HILL, SC--The men's soccer team is ranked 12th nationally in goals per game and sophomore Saidi Isaac is ranked 13th nationally in points per game.

Winthrop is 6-5-1 on the season and has 28 goals for an average of 2.33, which is tied with Duke for 12th in the nation. Winthrop has been able to find offensive production all season, despite having to juggle the line-ups through 11 of the 12 games this year.

The Eagles are also the top scoring team in the Big South Conference. They lead the Big South in several offensive categories such as shots (18.33 per game), points (6.92 per game), goals (2.33 per game), total goals (28), assists (27), assists per game (2.25) and corner kicks (77). As a team the Eagles are second in the league in goals allowed with 15 and second in goals against average at 1.22.

Isaac has had a very solid first year with the Eagles as he leads the team with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. His 1.91 points per game average ranks 13th nationally. Isaac also leads the Big South in points (21), points per game (1.91), goals (8), and goals per game (0.73).

Head coach Rich Posipanko is pleased with the offense this season considering the team has had to fight through player suspsensions, staph infections, and injuries. "I feel this team has done a good job considering what we've experienced this season. The players have handled themselves well under the circumstances. There are a couple of games I felt we should have won, but taking into consideration how many line-ups we've been through I feel pretty good about where we're at right now."

The Eagles scoring doesn't just go through Isaac, as freshman Daniel Revivo has emerged as one of the leagues best goal scorers. Revivo is tied with Isaac with eight goals on the season. Revivo is ranked third in the conference at 1.45 points per game, third in points with 16, and tied for first with 0.73 goals per game. Revivo is one of the most accurate shooters in the conference as he hits the frame 59 percent of the time.

Senior Michael Chumah has only played in seven games this season, but is tied for the league lead in game-winning goals with two. He has three goals and three assists on the season and is averaging 1.29 points per game, which ranks sixth in the league. Junior David Kenga is also among the league's leaders in scoring as he ranks first in shots with 49, first in shots per game at 4.45, tied for fifth in points with 12, ninth in points per game at 1.09, tied for eighth with four goals, tied for seventh in assists with four and is tied for 10th in assists per game at 0.36.

One of the main reasons for the Eagles being competitive is the solid goaltending they've received from junior Andy Reid and freshman Patrick Mitrovich. Both are ranked among the top goalies in the league. Mitrovich is second in the league with a 1.13 goals against average and Reid is third with a 1.29 gaa. Reid is second in the league in save percentage at .800, is fourth in saves with 36, second in saves per game at 4.50, and is tied for fifth with one shutout.

The Eagles are coming off their first game at full strength, in which they fell to Clemson 1-0 on the road in overtime. Posipanko was pleased with the way the team played and felt his team's play was good enough to win the game.

"I said at the beginning of the year we had a chance to be one of the best teams I've had at Winthrop and now that we're at full strength I'm excited to see what this team can do," said Posipanko, who captured his 275th victory on Oct. 13 vs. Southern Virginia. "If the Clemson game is any indication, then I feel we have a chance to do some good things over the remainder of the season."
