ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop's Lady Eagle golf team had a strong showing in the 2003 Sea Trail Intercollegiate Tournament last weekend as they finished fourth out of a field of 20 schools.

Winthrop was led by freshman Jutta Degerman who fired a 36-hole total of 156 (77-79) and tied for eighth place in medalist competition.  As a team Winthrop shot 638 (316-322) over the Par 72, 6,079 Willard Byrd Course at Sea Trail Plantation in Sunset Beach, NC.

The Lady Eagles finished 28 shots behind tournament winner Western Carolina which shot 610 (297-313).  Winthrop was only one shot behind tournament host Elon's 637, and finished ahead of Radford, 6th (650); Charleston Southern, 8th (655); and High Point, 13th (670).

Winthrop's other individual scores are as follows:  Gretchen McLeod, 160 (81-79), T23rd; Jenny Brake, 161 (81-80), T26th; Stephanie Stocks, 165 (77-88), T42nd; and Shannon Hopkins, 166 (82-84), T47th.
