ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop right fielder Daniel Carte was named Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Player of the Year while catcher Grant Neidenfeuhr joined Carte on the All-GLSCL first team.
Carte and Neidenfeuhr both played for the Columbus All-Americans in the wood bat league.
Carte hit .419 with 16 doubles and 35 RBI and led the team in almost every offensive category. He led the team in batting average, doubles, triples (2), hits (52), RBI, runs scored (34), slugging percentage (.645), on base percentage (.507), sacrifice flies (3) and times hit by a pitch (8). He was also tied for the team lead in walks (17) and home runs (2).
Neidenfeuhr hit .319 with seven doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI. He tied Carte for the team lead in walks and home runs.
Both Carte and Neidenfeuhr were named to the league’s all-star team earlier in the season.
