Plexico Voted 2003 Louisville Slugger 3rd Team All-America By Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (6-2-03)

Senior Closes Out Career As An All-American Pitcher

ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop senior southpaw Jeremy Plexico capped his Eagle baseball career by being voted to the 2003 Louisville Slugger NCAA Division All-America third team by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Plexico, of Chapin, SC, compiled a 12-3 record with a 2.75 earned run average this past season as he led Winthrop to a 15-4 regular season Big South Conference record and championship.  The Eagles finished 35-22 overall after bowing out of the conference tournament.

Plexico's 12 pitching victories were the most of any Big South hurler and earned him a spot on the 2003 All-Big South first team.  He was also honored for his academic achievements by being voted the conference's 2003 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

In addition to his top-ranking for pitching victories, Plexico led the Big South in complete games with six and ranked second in strikeouts (106), innings pitched (117.2) and earned run average (2.75).
