Winthrop Hires Barclay Radebaugh As Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.

Former USC Assistant Barclay Radebaugh Hired On Winthrop Men's Basketball Staff

July 17, 2001

ROCK HILL, SC–Winthrop head men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall has announced that former University of South Carolina assistant Barclay Radebaugh has joined his staff as an assistant coach. Radebaugh began his duties July 16.

For the past five years Radebaugh served on Eddie Fogler’s staff at USC. From 1996 to 1998 he was an administrative assistant and for the past three years was an assistant coach. He also was a tutor coordinator in South Carolina’s athletic department for two years prior to joining the basketball coaching staff. He has also served as an assistant coach at Furman from 1990-94 under then head coach Butch Estes and at Wofford for the 1989-90 season.

"We are excited that Barclay is joining our program," said Marshall, who has guided Winthrop to three consecutive Big South Conference championships and three trips to the NCAA tournament. "During our search, he stood out as a guy who will be an asset to the Winthrop basketball program, the young men in the program, and to the community."

Marshall said that Radebaugh has shown tremendous accomplishments and success in recruiting and he’s been at the highest level in the Southeastern Conference at USC for the past three years.

"I appreciate the opportunity Gregg Marshall is giving me to join his staff," said Radebaugh. "It is obviously a very exciting time to be a part of the Winthrop basketball program. Coach Marshall has done a phenomenal job during his tenure at Winthrop. I am looking forward to joining Coach Marshall, his staff and the players in their pursuit towards continued success. My entire family is excited about moving to Rock Hill and getting to know the Winthrop family."

Radebaugh, a 1983 graduate of Lincolnton (NC) High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in 1987 from East Tennessee State University. He and his wife, the former Hope Boone, are parents of two daughters, Anna, age 10, and Sophia, 3, and a son, Reid, 5.
