Winthrop University Athletics

Godbold was inducted as an outstanding contributor for his support of Winthrop Athletics and its student-athletes both financially and as one of their biggest supporters. John and Linda Godbold have generously given to Winthrop with improvements to the Winthrop Athletic Training Room as well as the men's basketball locker room. The Athletic Training Room's at the Winthrop Coliseum and the Winthrop Ballpark were redesigned along with equipment upgrades and improved spaces. Both of which are named after John and Linda. The former member of the Board of Directors and Eagle Club was born in Rock Hill, S.C. and has been around Winthrop his entire life. Prior to college he attended the Winthrop Training School and his father John J. Godbold Sr. was a professor in the college of education for 11 years at Winthrop.
