He graduated from Winthrop in 2000 with a degree in business administration and earned the master’s degree in 2002. The Brazil native was a four-year member of the men’s tennis team who earned numerous Big South Conference honors during his career which began in 1997. He was voted the 1997 Big South Freshman of the Year as he led Coach Cid Carvalho’s Eagles to the conference championship. Leite was twice voted the Big South Player of the Year in 1998 and 2001. As a sophomore, he was ranked 16th in the NCAA South Region in singles after compiling a 16-2 record at the No. 1 position.
