He ranks among Winthrop’s all-time leaders in eight offensive categories during his career as a talented outfielder. He was the first Winthrop baseball player ever taken in the Major League Draft as he was selected in the 33rd round of the 1987 draft by the San Francisco Giants. Malseed ranks fourth on the Winthrop career home run list with 35 and is tied for career triples with 10. He finished his career with a .382 batting average to rank fourth on that list. In 1987 he was selected on the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. He now serves as president of the collegiate division of Gear for Sports/Champion.
