Ruth was tabbed the the Big South Conference The Crons Brand Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance on Mar. 10. Ruth, a native of Hatfield, PA, earned his first victory of the season in the Eagles 3-2 win over Holy Cross on Saturday, which was Winthrop's second victory of the season. He tossed a career-high 8.0 innings against the Crusaders and also struck out a career-best 13 batters. It was the first time an Eagle pitcher had struck out 10 or more batters in a start since Hamilton Bennett in 2008, and was also the most strikeouts by a Winthrop hurler since Alex Wilson during the 2007 season. Ruth tallied three 1-2-3 innings in the contest after giving up two unearned runs in the first inning, and surrendered just one extra-base hit. It is the first career Pitcher of the Week honor for Ruth.
