Jared Baird opened his senior campaign in impressive fashion as he shattered the Big South record with a throw of 71.30 meters at the UNF Osprey Spring Break Invitational.  The throw placed him No. 3 in the NCAA and No. 5 on the Canadian National list and obliterated his old school mark of 65.05m by over 20 feet. According to Winthrop track and field coach Ben Paxton, Baird's throw should place him easily in the NCAA 1st round in late May based on last year's rankings
