Chelsey Schoenfeldt was tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon. She was also named the College Sports Madness Big South Player of the Week.

Schoenfeldt, a starting pitcher and designate player, had a very solid opening weekend helping the Lady Eagles to a 2-2 start. The 5-7 left-handed batter recorded two hits in all four games as she was 8-for-12 with a run and four RBI. Twice she had base hits, where she was replaced by a pinch-runner that eventually scored.

The weekend started off with a solid pitching performance by Schoenfeldt as she tossed 6.1 innings allowing just one run on five hits with no walks and two strikeouts to earn the win over Cleveland State, 3-1. She capped off the weekend with a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday in a 3-1 win over Tennessee State. She is currently riding a four-game hit streak.

Her efforts on the mound and at the plate earned her All-Palmetto Classic Team honors.
