Cooper broke her own school hammer throw record as she finished third in the 2016 Outdoor NCAA Track and Field Championships with a school-record toss of 65.21 meters (213-11). Her third place performance marks the highest finish for a Winthrop athlete in the NCAA Track and Field Championships, both indoor and outdoor. Cooper's finish earned her outdoor field All-American honors for the second straight year and increased her total All-American awards to three as she also earned that recognition at the 2016 indoor championships in Birmingham, AL, during February.
