Winthrop junior Keon Johnson has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Johnson averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading the Eagles to a 2-0 Big South start last week. He opened the week scoring 18 of his game-high 27 points in the second half of a one-point win at Charleston Southern -- including Winthrop's final 12 points. He also stole the inbound pass on CSU's final possession to seal the victory. In Saturday's win over Presbyterian, Johnson led the squad with 18 points, including 10 in the second half, with six rebounds. For the week, Johnson was 12-of-17 from the field ( =70.6 percent), 5-of-6 from beyond the arc ( =83.3) and made 16-of-20 free throw attempts ( =80.0).
