Freshman Marthaline Cooper broke the school record in the weight throw over the weekend in the Hilton Garden Invitational, winning by a comfortable margin over her competition.
 
Cooper shattered the record with a distance of 18.46 meters and remains unbeaten as a college thrower.  The winning performance came on her first throw of the evening and betters the previous record of 17.65m that was held by Ashley Howard.
