Winthrop University Athletics

Mark Britton, a sophomore from Pennsboro, W.Va, captured first place in the discus event at the Palmetto Classic.  His throw of 166-feet, 11-inches set the meet and facility records in the event.  He is currently ranked No. 1 on the Big South Performance list and is No. 9 nationally.  For his record-setting performance, Britton was named the Big South Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
