ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop head softball coach
Windy Thees announced the hiring of Jamie Morgan as an assistant coach.
Morgan joins the Eagles with a high level of playing experience as she played for Thees at the University of Mississippi. She graduated with a degree in psychology from Ole Miss after a two-year playing career with the softball team.
"I am excited for the opportunity to join
Windy Thees at Winthrop University, working together to build a championship program," said Morgan. "I can't wait to get to know the players, and the people in the community to make this year one to remember."
"I am extremely excited to announce that Jamie Morgan will be joining our staff here at Winthrop," said Thees, who took over the program in July. "Jamie played for me in the 2014 season at Ole Miss and had a tremendously successful career at both Ole Miss and Phoenix College, where she started her career. I consider Jamie to be focused, smart, driven, and loyal. Jamie is unafraid to get in the trenches with the athletes to help them become their best selves. I look forward to having Jamie's knowledge of all facets of the game in the office and on the field."
In 2016 Morgan was involved in several different ways for softball instruction and coaching. Morgan was a batting instruction at Scottsdale Batting Cages while also coaching at Desert Mountain High School with the freshmen team and assisting with the varsity team.
In addition to playing two years at Ole Miss, Morgan had a standout career at Phoenix College where she helped the team capture a national championship in 2011 and second-place finish in 2012.
