ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop Athletics and Full Spectrum Brewing Company announced today a partnership designating the company as the official craft brewery of Winthrop Athletics. Full Spectrum Brewing Company, headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C., is locally owned by Winthrop alumnus Charles Bergman.
"I'm incredibly proud to be a Winthrop Eagle, and I'm thankful for every piece of my time at Winthrop," said Bergman. "I'm very excited to announce this partnership between Full Spectrum Brewing Company and Winthrop Athletics because it's a way for me to give back to the university and support the local community."
As an official kick-off to the new partnership, all Eagle fans are invited to the first "Rock the Mill" event on Saturday, Sept. 23 hosted at Full Spectrum (2180 Carolina Place Drive #101, Fort Mill, S.C. 29708) starting at 2 p.m. The event will include a meet and greet with men's basketball head coach
Pat Kelsey and Big Stuff, a special cask of Full Spectrum's "Liquid Gold" and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Eagle Club. Fans are encouraged to then head to Winthrop's home volleyball match at 4 p.m vs. Campbell and home men's soccer game at 7 p.m. against Presbyterian College.
"We are thrilled to partner with Charles and the team at Full Spectrum Brewing," said Winthrop athletics director Ken Halpin." This is a unique partnership with a local business that is owned and operated by a Winthrop graduate, and it provides some exciting opportunities for our athletic department to continue to engage Fort Mill and our surrounding communities. We are already working on some collaborative projects to help grow both the Full Spectrum and Winthrop Athletics brands throughout York County, and we can't wait to share them with our fans. Stay tuned!"
