Point Guard Jimecheia Banks Will Miss Remainder Of The Season After Breaking Ankle

Banks Is Out For the Season After Breaking Ankle At Radford
ROCK HILL SC—Winthrop sophomore guard Jimecheia Banks will miss the remainder of the season, according to head coach Kevin Cook, after suffering a broken ankle in the early minutes of last Saturday's women's game at Radford.

Banks (Phenix City, AL) played in all 14 games this season and started nine times, including the last six contests.  She was averaging 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists at the time of the injury, and  was coming off her career-high scoring game with 13 points against Longwood on Jan. 2.

With Banks' injury and without the availability of freshman center Arianne Whitaker who suffered a concussion in practice last week, Winthrop will have eight players in uniform for tonight's home conference game against Presbyterian College.
