ANKARA, TURKEY—Former Winthrop men's basketball standout Michael Jenkins was part of the Turkish Basketball League (TBL) All-Star Weekend this past weekend at Ankara Arena as he came away as the champion of the three-point contest.

Jenkins, who is playing for Istanbul Büyüksehir Belediyesi, defeated John Shurna and Renaldes Seibutis with 15 points in the final round. Shurna and Seibutis are both members of Darüssafaka Dogus.

This past summer Jenkins played with the Oklahoma City Thunder as he played all seven preseason games and then 14 games with the OKC Blue of the NBA Developmental League affiliate where he played 14 games before heading to the TBL.

During his time at Winthrop Jenkins was a member of four Big South Conference championship teams and his senior year he was named the Most Valuable Player of the conference tournament.

He is currently averaging 12.5 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from three in two games.
